Bathing Water Profile: Portrush (Curran Strand)

Curran Strand is also known as the East Strand and it forms approx. a 4km strip of sandy beach to the east of Portrush.  It includes the East Strand and White Rocks beach and it is popular for watersports all year round, especially for surfing.  At the rear of the beach there is an impressive dune system which has a long promenade enabling easy access to the dunes.  The dunes provide a home to a rich variety of wildlife and home tothe Royal Portrush Golf Club.  There is a large car park at the western end of the beach located at Sand-Dune Terrace in Portrush and the beach can be accessed by either stairs or a ramp.  There is a railway station nearby with services to nearby Coleraine.

Facilities: Car Parking, Dogs Allowed, Lifeguard Service, Toilets. The following facilities are available for users with limited mobility: disabled toilets and disabled parking. Concrete access ramps onto beach at both ends of promenade. Awards: Seaside Award Resort.
